No dog over 4 months of age may be released without proof of a valid Michigan dog license! Additional fees may incur to obtain compliance with state licensing laws.
If a stray dog goes unclaimed after the legal holding period, it may become available for adoption. Our adoption fee of $150 includes spay/neuter, heartworm testing, rabies vaccination, and canine distemper-adenovirus type 2-parainfluenza-parvovirus(1-DAPPv) vaccination. If you see a dog you may be interested in adopting, please contact the shelter at 517-543-5755 ext. 1, during regular business hours.
Eaton County residents will also be required to purchase a 1 year dog license at an additional fee.
Please keep in mind that dogs are adopted out "as is" and understand that ECAC can make no statement or warranty about the animal's temperament, health, or whether the animal is housebroken.
Since our shelter is small and only meant for short-term housing, most of our unclaimed pets are transferred to local humane societies and rescues for re-homing once their stray hold is complete.
