Charges authorized in 2019 Delta Township Murder

Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich and Eaton County Prosecuting Attorney Douglas R. Lloyd announced this morning that charges have been authorized against Julian Guadalupe Revilla, age 26, of Lansing, for the January 3, 2019 murder of Suzann Fedewa. Fedewa was found deceased on the side of Old Lansing Road near Lansing Road in Delta Township.

A felony warrant charging Revilla with:

  • First Degree Premeditated Murder, a felony punishable by life in prison without the possibility of parole,

  • Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, a felony punishable by 2 years in prison,

  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm, a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison, and

  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon, a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison,

was authorized on August 29, 2019 by 56A District Court Judge Julie A. O’Neill. An interim bond of $50,000 was originally set on the warrant. On August 30, 2019, Eaton County Chief Judge Thomas K. Byerly, granted a request from the Eaton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to reconsider the bond, and subsequently denied interim bond pending formal arraignment.

Julian Revilla is currently incarcerated with the Ohio Department of Corrections and has not been arraigned on the charges. The process of returning him to the State of Michigan to formally answer to these charges will begin today. As of this date Court hearings are scheduled, though the case is pending an arraignment in front of the Honorable Julie H. Reincke in 56A District Court subsequent to Revilla’s return to Eaton County under the Interstate Agreement on Detainers. As in all criminal cases, the charges are merely accusations, and Revilla is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Today’s announcement is the result of an eight month investigation led by The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office who was assisted by the Lansing Police Department, The Michigan State Police, the United States Drug Enforcement Agency, the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Eaton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich said, “Our Detectives were relentless in the investigation, pursuit and identification of this murder suspect and Eaton County is safer as a result. The teamwork and collaboration with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners and Prosecutor’s Office was instrumental to this successful investigation. The Sheriff’s Office is committed to delivering the very best law enforcement services in Eaton County and ensuring the safety of our communities.

Eaton County Prosecutor Douglas R. Lloyd said, “The People of Eaton County deserve to feel safe in this community. The hard work of the members of my office and detectives from the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office, along with their local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, have resulted in the issuance of the charges in this case. My office is dedicated to working with our law enforcement partners to keep Eaton County a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Representatives from the Sheriff’s Office and Prosecutor’s Office will be available for short on-camera interviews regarding this matter this afternoon at 3:00 pm at the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office. Because of the open status of the criminal investigation and case involving Julian Revilla, authorities are unable to discuss specific facts and information regarding the case and investigation at this time.
