1.  What is a Personal Protection Order (PPO)?
 
            There are two types of Personal Protection Orders (PPO)
 
          A.  Domestic Personal Protection Order 
  
                If you and the respondent have current/former dating relationship,   
                current/former spouse, current/former resident of the same 
                household or have a child in common
           
         B.   Stalking Personal Protection Order 
  
                If you and the respondent do not or have not had a domestic 
                relationship. 

 Note: a stalking PPO must involve two or more “separate and non-continuous” acts
 
            A Personal Protection Order Cannot:
 
            ·Evict someone in a landlord/tenant relationship
            ·Establish or modify custody or parenting time
            ·Protect your personal property from damage
            ·Mediate neighborhood disputes
            ·Restrain a person from being rude or spreading rumors 
            ·Remove someone from a place they have a legal right to be, such
            as a local store or restaurant

3.  How much does it cost to obtain a Personal Protection Order?
 
There is no charge to obtain a personal protection order.  There may be a charge if you hire a processor server to serve your Personal Protection Order
