Conservation Intern Position Posting
Position Description
Employment Classification – Paid, Part time Intern
Qualifications
Completed or pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources or related field. Business experience a plus! Relevant experience and/or ability to perform the duties described below. Experience with computers and office equipment. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Education
- Assist in providing conservation education programs and information to local schools and organizations. (examples native plants, benefits of trees, wildlife, endangered species)
- Assist in preparing district displays and demonstrations for fairs and exhibitions.
- Assist with public education programs and initiatives for district/NRCS projects.
- Assist with tree and native plant fundraisers
- Handle orders and tree questions.
Public relations
- Assist callers and visitors in locating appropriate information and resources
- Assist in maintaining a current library of conservation information and resources available within and beyond the district/NRCS office.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of district and NRCS programs and services.
- Assist in preparing news releases, brochures, and pamphlets to enhance public awareness and promote district services.
- Assist in preparing district newsletter.
- Assist in maintaining mailing list of district clients.
- Assist in maintaining drill and tree planter rental schedules.
