A person may be married at the age of 16 or 17 with parental or guardian consent (parent of guardian must be present to sign consent form). Those 18 or over do not require consent.
Proof of age is required in the form of a birth certificate, driver’s license, Passport, Military ID or state ID for both applicants. You will also need to provide your Social Security Number.
Michigan residents must apply in the county in which at least one of the applicants resides. You must provide evidence of your residency in the county, such as your ID or a document with evidence of your residency. Once the affidavit is complete, and the 4 day waiting period has ceased, the license can be used anywhere in Michigan.
Out of State residents, where both parties live outside of the state must apply in the county where the ceremony will be performed. Marriage Affidavit click here. Both parties must have their signatures notarized on the affidavit before applying.
**There is no blood test or HIV/AIDS classes required for marriage licenses. We will provide a pamphlet on HIV/Aids testing sights when you apply.**
