The Eaton County Department of Resource Recovery (ECDRR) is the designated implementing agency responsible for the development and administration of the County Waste Management Plan under Public Act 641. In 1993, a Solid Waste Ordinance was enacted in Eaton County with the purpose of protecting and promoting public health, safety and welfare of residents. Through the Solid Waste Ordinance, solid waste collection, transportation, delivery and disposal can be regulated, residents and businesses are provided incentives to recycle in order to reduce the volume of solid waste disposed, and the environment is preserved and improved.
ECDRR acts as a resource to Eaton County residents. Tips on recycling, reuse and waste reduction are readily available during office hours, Monday -Friday 8am -5pm at (517)543-3686.
Special collection events are organized each year to accommodate the proper disposal of wastes such as Household Hazardous Waste, Electronics, Scrap Tires, Books, and more. Click on UPCOMING EVENTS for details.
Year-round programs include Collection Points for the following: Household Batteries, Cell Phones, Mercury Thermometers, and Cooking Oil Recovery. The Freon Recovery Credit Program and a Medical Sharps Mail-Back Program are also available. Click on Resource Recovery Programs for details.
ECDRR provides information from local recycling centers but each center operates under the municipality in which it resides. For questions, call your local city or village hall.
More Information, at the right, provides additional information and resources.
In 2009, Resource Recovery programs recycled or properly disposed of 87 TONS of materials. Included in that amount is 41 tons of household hazardous waste & electronics that were safely recovered and properly disposed. |
