Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant
Eaton County Department of Resource Recovery wins $420,000 Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant.The funds will help reduce energy consumption of buildings within the Eaton County Governmental Complex and provide educational opportunities to schoolchildren on low-cost home energy efficiency strategies. This project will improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce total energy use, save money, educate residents on low-cost energy efficiency strategies and help retain jobs-something that is much-needed in Michigan at this time. |
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program (EECBG) provides grants to the U.S. local government, states, territories, and Indian tribes to fund programs and projects that reduce energy use and fossil fuel emissions and improve energy efficiency. The Program represents a Presidential priority to deploy the most inexpensive, cleanest, and fastest energy sources.
Eaton County, as part of the EECBG program, has desires of increasing energy efficiency, updating infrastructure, and reducing environmental impacts is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to conduct investment grade energy audits for certain buildings within the County complex.
Qualified, professional energy audit contractors were invited to bid on the project that includes energy retrofitting and a solar energy project. Bids were due Tuesday, March 23, 2010 by noon.
