The Records Section is staffed personnel who process and maintain over 20,000 criminal

and non-criminal reports yearly.

All reports are computerized to form a database and for later retrieval as necessary.

The Records Section also issues purchase permits, provides documents and reports to citizens

and answers general questions.

The Records Section may be reached at 517-543-5247 during normal business hours.

Business Hours:

Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. except on holidays

Finger Printing Hours:


Monday through Friday 9 am to 11:30 am  and  1:30 pm to 4 pm except on holidays

General Fingerprinting - $15.00

(additional state and federal fees may apply in some cases such as school employment

or volunteers which is an additional $44.75)


Conceal Pistol License (CPL) Fingerprinting - $15.00


Purchase Permits $2.50 Notary Fee (those who currently hold a CPL permit are exempt from this fee)


Accident/Crime Reports $ 7.00

F.O.I.A. Requests $17.47 for the first page and .382 cents for each additional page. 

Additional charges for time spent researching and copying information will be applied.

The Quartermaster is responsible for providing all needed equipment for the Sheriff Department to function. This vital job encompasses supplying everything from ticket books to patrol cars. The Quartermaster is also in charge of building and vehicle fleet maintenance.

Training Section

The Training Section is responsible for the training needs of Department personnel. Areas of training include but are not limited to

first aid, firearms/use of deadly force, safe driving and criminal law updates.

The Patrol Training Officer is Deputy Tad Schwartz.

The Corrections Training Officer is Corrections Deputy Aaron Kayne.

Department personnel receive training that meets or exceeds the standards set by Michigan Department of Corrections and the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Training Council.

Property Section

Property under control of the Sheriff's Office is stored by the Property Section. Evidence is safeguarded until sent to the crime laboratory for analysis or until needed for court. Lost/found property is housed for safe keeping at the property section. Thousands of items are processed through the property section yearly.

Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
