Duane Tirrell Memorial Park

A small ceremony was held June 19, 2010, renaming the half acre D. E. Wertz Roadside Park in memory of Duane Tirrell, known in the Charlotte community as the “gentle shepherd” for his dedication to the Charlotte community, farming, and the protection of open space and farm land. The newly christened Duane Tirrell Memorial Roadside Park has new stone steps leading to the artesian well courtesy of the Tirrell family endowment established under the Capital Region Community Foundation. Other upcoming improvements to the park will include revamped picnic tables and a small covered picnic area which will be provided by a local Boy Scout as an Eagle Scout project.

  • Open Year Round 8 a.m. to dusk
