Programs and collection events coordinated by the Department of Resource Recovery are made possible through a surcharge paid by Eaton County residents on their waste hauling bill at a rate of .60/month.
Programs are designed to assist residents in the disposal of everyday household goods deemed hazardous to the environment if improperly handled. A list of those programs and events are as follows: household hazardous waste, electronics, scrap tires, batteries, freon, mercury, medical sharps and cooking oil. Please visit UPCOMING EVENTS and Resource Recovery Programs for details.
Funding is also made available to local recycling programs through a grant process. All of these things are made possible due to the Eaton County Solid Waste Ordinance of 1993.
Please direct questions to the Department at (517) 543-3686.
