The Eaton County Community Development Department provides a public service to the local units of government and citizens of Eaton County in the areas of Planning and Zoning, Economic Development, Housing and Veterans Services. The Department is dedicated to improving and sustaining the quality of the natural and built environment that attracts business investments and residential growth in the county, as well as the protection of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Eaton County. Our goal is to promote and enhance the community by providing fair, high quality, streamlined permit processes and services to all of the department’s customers.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of a special meeting of the Eaton County Planning Commission Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Eaton County Court Courthouse, 1045 Independence Blvd., Charlotte, MI. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the update of the Eaton County Master Plan. A quorum of the Board of Commissioners and a quorum of the Board of Appeals may be present at this meeting.

The Community Development Department is responsible for administration and enforcement of the Eaton County Land Development Code (Zoning Ordinance). Any questions concerning property zoning, conditional use permits, zoning variances, site plans, land uses or any other planning or zoning issues may be directed to this Department.
The Eaton County Veterans Services Office is an advocate for the veterans and their dependents who reside in Eaton County. We can provide assistance to veterans and their dependents.
Eaton County administers an Emergency Repair Program. No interest, no payment loans to Eaton County residents who meet federal, state and County Housing Program guidelines may be provided.
