The week is designed to refresh, remind and educate everyone about the seasonal threats from severe weather and how to avoid them. It’s also a great time to make and practice your emergency plan!
The week is usually planned for March and includes a statewide tornado drill. Michigan’s 2021 Severe Weather Awareness Week will be from March 21-27, 2021 with the Statewide Tornado Drill taking place on Wednesday, March 24 at 1:00 pm.
Eaton County will be participating in the following ways:
Encouraging county departments, schools, local agencies/organizations, businesses, families and individuals to discuss and practice their severe weather plan.
Creating social media posts on a weekly basis leading up to Severe Weather Awareness promoting the drill and highlighting participation.
Issuing press releases and conducting news interviews.
Outdoor warning siren activation on Wednesday, March 24th at 1:00 pm.
Testing of the countywide alert system on Wednesday, March 24th at 1:00 pm.
