Overall the Eaton County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 956 calls for service/events. Our higher call volumes occurred in the following areas: Alarms (24), Assist Citizen/Motorist Assists (32), Argument/Verbal Altercation (9), MDOP (10), Car/Deer Accidents (11), Check Well Beings (19), Domestic Disputes (18), Larcenies (19), Shoplifting Complaints (41), Personal Injury Crashes (5), Property Damage Crashes (23), Suspicious Subject/Situation/Vehicle (51), Traffic Hazards (21), Traffic Stops (228), Traffic Violations (60), and Drug Offenses/Drug Overdoses (3),
September is Emergency Preparedness Month. Many of you may have Emergency Preparedness Kits made and that is great. If you do, now is a good time to take inventory, check items for expiration dates, do flashlights work, etc. If you don’t have an Emergency Preparedness Kit, what better time to make one. Here are some recommended items -
Water (1 gallon per person per day)
At least a 3-day supply of food
Battery-powered radio a weather radio w/extra batteries
Flashlight w/extra batteries
First aid kit
Whistle to signal for help
Infant formula and diapers
Moist towelettes, garbage bags, paper towels
Dust masks or t-shirts to filter air
Plastic sheeting and duct tape
Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities and a multi-tool
Can opener for food
Light sticks and candles, matches in waterproof container
Fire extinguisher, signal flares
Paper and pencil
Tent and compass
Mess kits, paper cups, plates and plastic ware
Cash or traveler’s checks and change
Pet supplies and documents
Personal hygiene items
Clothing and blankets
