05/22/2019 - Lansing teen arraigned on Open Murder

Eaton County Prosecuting Attorney Douglas Lloyd announced that WILLIE LEE FLETCHER, age 15, of Stoneleigh Dr., Lansing, was arraigned in the Eaton County District Court on 05/22/2019 on felony charges of Open Murder and Felony Firearm, connected to the 12/14/2018 murder of Donovan Barfield on Bayview Dr., Delta Twp.

The District Court judge granted the Prosecutor's Office's request for bail to be set at $3 million due to Fletcher's adjudication history both before and after the murder date, that he was on court supervision at the time of the murder, and the risk of flight due to the possible penalty.

Fletcher was charged as an adult. Open Murder includes all type of murder: First Degree Murder (premeditated murder or murder committed in the court of another felony) which carries the possibility of Life without parole for this juvenile, and Second Degree Murder which carries a maximum penalty of any term of years up to Life with the possibility of parole.

Fletcher will receive a court-appointed attorney. Fletcher's next court appearances are currently scheduled for Tue., 06/04/2019 at 1:00 pm (Probable Cause Conference) and Fri., 06/07/2019 at 10:00 am (Preliminary Examination).
