Canine Reagan

Canine Advocate/Investigator
Title: Canine Advocate
Reagan

Biography

  • Reagan joined the Eaton County Prosecutor's Office as a canine advocate on December 16, 2013, after having been trained by Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester, Michigan. When he joined our office, Reagan was only the 5th canine advocate working in a Michigan prosecutor's office (there are currently 29). His job is to support crime victims by helping to relieve some of their anxiety at being involved in the court system.
  • In April 2017, Reagan joined Prosecutor Doug Lloyd and office investigator Bryan Seratt at the State Capitol to testify before the House Judiciary committee in support of State Representative Tom Barrett's House Bill 5645 (2018), which expands opportunities for trained/certified support canines to be in court hearings. The bill puts into law what several Court of Appeals decisions had held, and was supported without changes by the Committee. It is now awaiting consideration by the full House of Representatives.
  • Reagan is owned by the Office, and his handler is Bryan Seratt, an investigator in our office. Visit Reagan's Facebook page.
